Beach Play

I look at this and smell the salt air, feel the sea breeze and hear the roar of the waves rushing in, just as I did while I was painting this work.  I hope you sense these things as you view this painting.  I remember doing as the subject of this piece, digging my hands into the sand and feeling the suction of the waves going out as it pulls on the sand and water.  I imagined that I was feeling the earth breathing in, then out as the pressure lessened around my hands.  It was pure magic, and I have felt drawn to the sea since my first visit at age 6.  How I enjoy watching my grandchildren play in the surf now, and watching them explore it's mysteries.
